Nominations, Elections, & Appointments

STUDENT’S ASSOCIATION EXECUTIVE BOARD PROCESS:

The Eastman Students’ Association will be accepting nominations for the Executive Board in the spring semester. Elections take place prior to spring break.

The Students’ Association (SA) is your undergraduate student government. The purpose of the SA is to act as liaison between the undergraduate students and the administration; to provide a support structure for student activities; to provide social activities to enhance and enrich student life; to promote the cultural, social, and physical well-being of students; to protect the academic and non-academic rights of the students; and to provide a forum for the expression of student views and interests.

Positions are President, Vice-President, Treasurer, and Secretary. For more information regarding each position, please read: ESM Students’ Association Executive Board Position Descriptions

ELIGIBILITY: 

  • Only self-nominations are accepted.
  • All candidates are expected to have satisfactory academic and judicial standing in order to hold office.
  • Incomplete or late applications will not be accepted.
  • You must not be studying abroad during the term  for which you are running. If you are CURRENTLY abroad, you are eligible to run and participate in elections if you will be back on campus for your term.
  • To be eligible for the Presidential nomination, you must have been a leader for one of the recognized student organizations in SA and/or have been part of the Eastman Orientation Crew, and/or have attended at least 5 SA meetings this academic year.
  • Vice Presidential candidates are strongly recommended to have been involved with SA, EOC, have been an RA, or consistently have attended SA meetings this academic year.
  • Presidential & Vice Presidential candidates must run as a pair.
  • Candidates can run for multiple positions, but must submit an individual nomination and platform for each position.

ELECTION FLYERS: 

Election flyers may only be posted on bulletin boards in the Student Living Center and Lowry Hall. All flyers must be sent for review and printing to the Office of Student Life (studentlife@esm.rochester.edu) by the deadline. Standard 8.5″x11″ or 11″x17″ color is acceptable.

STUDENTS’ ASSOCIATION COUNCIL MEMBER APPOINTMENT PROCESS: 

SA’s primary voice is through the Students’ Association Council (SAC). These positions carry out initiatives and address on going needs of the student body.

ELIGIBILITY: 

  • All candidates are expected to have satisfactory academic and judicial standing in order to hold office.
  • Incomplete or late applications will not be accepted.
  • You must not be studying abroad during the term (Fall 2016-Spring 2017) for which you are running. If you are CURRENTLY abroad, you are eligible to run and participate in the appointment process.
  • You can apply for multiple positions, but must submit individual applications for each council position.

All positions on the Students’ Association Council (SAC) will be open in spring.Health & Wellness Chair, Diversity Chair, Community Service Chair, Transportation and Safety & Security Chair, Dining Chair, and Academics Chair.
