The value of an Eastman education is enriched by opportunities to earn certificates and diplomas in specific areas, and by special programs that add depth to our innovative and detailed curricula. A diploma program consists of a prescribed curriculum that ranges from 16-25 credits, including components such as applied music, academic coursework, independent study, ensembles, and in some cases, an internship experience. Two types of certificates are awarded, including those focused on outstanding performance (Performer’s or Artist’s Certificate) and those involving co-curricular activity.
The undergraduate program now includes a Musical Arts major, Arts Leadership Certificate, and the World Music Certificate. Graduate programs include the Orchestral Studies Diploma, the Sacred Music Diploma, the Arts Leadership Certificate, the Certificate in College and/or Community Teaching, the World Music Certificate, and the Ethnomusicology Diploma. Other new programs are being developed, always with the goal of providing our students with a top-quality education that is both innovative and relevant. The Arts Leadership Certificate program is administered through the Institute for Music Leadership. All other programs are administered through the Office of Academic Affairs.
